Pristella tetras are peaceful fish that do best in groups with other peaceful community fish that are similar in size or slightly larger. Some good tank mates for Pristella tetras include:
- Other tetras: Such as neon tetras, flame tetras, or glowlight tetras
- Rasboras: Such as the harlequin rasbora or scissortail rasbora
- Danios: Small danios are good tank mates for tetras
- Dwarf gouramis: A good tank mate for Pristella tetras
- Catfish: Small catfish, such as Corydoras catfish or Bristlenose catfish, are good tank mates for Pristella tetras
- Rainbowfish: Appropriately sized rainbowfish are good tank mates for tetras
- Livebearers: Livebearers are good tank mates for tetras
Pristella tetras are schooling fish, so they do best in groups of at least three, but ideally six or more.
