The Elegant Cory, or Corydoras elegans, is a medium-growing, attractively marked freshwater catfish native to the middle Amazon in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. Found in large shoals, it thrives in a variety of shallow-water habitats. This peaceful species is hardy, ideal for community aquariums, and should be kept in groups due to its schooling nature. Adult males are sexually dimorphic, exhibiting a taller dorsal fin and a more reticulated facial pattern.
