Moxiclear – Monthly Spot-On Treatment for Fleas, Mites, and Intestinal Worms

Moxiclear® for Puppies and Small Dogs up to 4 kg is a monthly topical spot-on treatment providing protection against fleas, intestinal worms, ear mites, sarcoptic mange, Demodex and other susceptible parasites. It combines two active ingredients—imidacloprid and moxidectin—in one easy-to-apply treatment.

Active ingredients

Imidacloprid – 100 g/L

Imidacloprid remains primarily on the skin surface and coat. It kills adult and larval fleas by contact, so fleas do not need to bite the dog to receive a lethal dose. Moxiclear states that it can stop fleas feeding within approximately 3–5 minutes and kill adult and larval fleas within about 20 minutes of contact.

Moxidectin – 25 g/L

Moxidectin is absorbed through the skin and distributed through the dog’s body. It provides control of susceptible internal and external parasites, including several intestinal worms and mites.

What does Moxiclear treat?

Moxiclear for dogs provides control of:

• Fleas, including adult fleas

• Flea larvae in the pet’s surroundings

• Roundworms

• Hookworms

• Whipworms

• Ear mites

• Sarcoptic mange

• Demodectic mange

• Lice

• Heartworm prevention where indicated by the product label.

It can also be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) because of its flea-control activity.

How to apply

For a dog up to 4 kg, use one 0.4 mL pipette.

1. Remove the pipette from its outer sachet.

2. Hold the pipette upright and tap the narrow section so the liquid is in the main body.

3. Twist or snap off the tip.

4. Have the dog standing.

5. Part the hair between the shoulder blades until the skin is clearly visible.

6. Place the pipette tip directly against the skin.

7. Squeeze the pipette firmly twice to apply the entire contents.

8. Avoid the dog’s eyes and mouth.

9. Remove the collar during application and replace it once the product is dry.

10. Record the treatment date and repeat monthly.

Do not give Moxiclear by mouth. It is for external/topical application only.

Puppies

Moxiclear can be used on puppies from 7 weeks of age. The small-dog formulation is intended for puppies and dogs weighing up to 4 kg.

Bathing and swimming

Moxiclear is water resistant once dry. The manufacturer states that it remains efficacious following shampooing, swimming or exposure to rain. If shampooing is required, a soap-free shampoo is recommended.

Important precautions

• For dogs only. Do not use the dog formulation on cats.

• Use the correct up-to-4 kg pipette according to the dog’s current weight.

• Do not divide one pipette between animals.

• Prevent the treated dog or other animals from licking the application site.

• Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth.

• Use with caution in sick, debilitated or underweight animals.

• Occasional hair loss or irritation can occur at the application site and is generally temporary.

• The product should be stored below 25°C and protected from light.
