The usable opening is approximately 180 × 185 mm, so it is important to measure the widest part of your pet’s chest or hips and their body height before installation.

Suitable Pets

The door is designed for:

• Cats that need a larger opening than a standard cat flap

• Small breeds such as Jack Russell Terriers and Yorkshire Terriers

PetSafe recommends measuring the pet rather than relying only on breed or weight. Measure the widest part of the chest or hips and the height from the shoulders to the lowest point of the chest/belly, then allow approximately ½–1 inch of additional clearance.

Installation

The Big Cat Door is designed to fit most interior and exterior doors approximately 25–51 mm (1–2 inches) thick. The package includes a cutting template and mounting hardware to assist with installation.

For glass installation, a separate PetSafe Big Cat Small Dog Door Glass Installation Adaptor is available. The adaptor is designed specifically for the newer Big Cat Door and supports circular glass cut-outs of approximately 263.5–276.2 mm. Glass cutting should be carried out by a professional glazier.
