Petsafe SmartDoor Electronic SmartKey

The PetSafe SmartDoor Electronic SmartKey is a programmable electronic key designed for use with compatible PetSafe SmartDoor electronic pet doors. It works as your pet’s electronic identification device, allowing the SmartDoor to recognise an authorised pet and control access automatically.

The SmartKey is particularly useful for households with multiple pets because each compatible pet can have its own key and access can be managed individually.

Key Features

• Electronic pet identification – The SmartKey communicates with a compatible SmartDoor to identify your pet.

• Automatic access control – The SmartDoor can unlock when an authorised SmartKey is detected.

• Individual pet access – Allows different SmartKeys to be assigned to different pets.

• Multiple-pet functionality – Multiple keys can be programmed to the compatible SmartDoor.

• Helps keep unwanted animals out – The door responds to authorised SmartKeys rather than simply opening for any animal.

• Collar attachment – Designed to be attached to your pet’s collar.

• Compact design – Small enough to be worn by your pet without being overly bulky.

• Battery powered – Uses a replaceable battery to operate the electronic key.

• Easy programming – The SmartKey can be paired with a compatible SmartDoor using the door’s programming controls.

• Useful for controlled access – Helps manage which pets are allowed through an electronic pet door.

How It Works

The SmartKey is attached to your pet’s collar. When your pet approaches a compatible PetSafe SmartDoor, the door detects the electronic SmartKey.

If the SmartKey has been authorised and the pet is permitted to use the door, the SmartDoor unlocks to allow access. This means the door can distinguish an authorised pet from other animals approaching the opening.

The SmartKey itself does not function as a standalone pet door. It requires a compatible PetSafe electronic SmartDoor.

Multiple Pets

The SmartKey system is particularly useful for multi-pet households. Individual SmartKeys can be assigned to pets, allowing the SmartDoor system to recognise authorised animals.

This can be useful when you want to provide outdoor access to some pets while keeping other pets indoors.

Collar Attachment

The SmartKey is designed to be carried by your pet on its collar. It should be securely attached so that the SmartDoor can reliably detect the key when your pet approaches.

For reliable operation, make sure the SmartKey remains securely attached and that the collar is appropriate for the pet.

Compatibility

The SmartKey is intended for compatible PetSafe SmartDoor electronic pet doors.

It is important to check the model of your existing SmartDoor before purchasing, as electronic accessories and SmartKeys may not be compatible with every PetSafe pet door.

Battery

The SmartKey operates using a replaceable battery. Battery life depends on usage and environmental conditions.

Replace the battery when the SmartDoor stops reliably recognising the SmartKey or when the system indicates that the key battery is low.

Dimensions

The SmartKey is approximately:

• Length: 3.8 cm

• Width: 1.9 cm

• Height: 1.3 cm
