Active ingredients

Imidacloprid works against adult fleas, flea larvae and lice.

Flumethrin repels and kills ticks.

The two ingredients are stored within the collar’s polymer matrix and are gradually released in low concentrations. They spread through the dog’s natural skin oils and coat, providing continuous contact protection.

What does Seresto protect against?

Seresto provides protection against:

• Adult fleas

• Flea larvae

• Ticks

• Lice

• Flea reinfestation by helping disrupt the flea life cycle

It can also be used as part of a flea-control strategy for dogs affected by flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

How to fit the collar

1. Remove the collar from its sealed pouch.

2. Remove any remaining plastic connectors from the collar.

3. Place the collar around your puppy or dog’s neck.

4. Thread the loose end through the two loops.

5. Adjust the collar so that two fingers can comfortably fit between the collar and the dog’s neck.

6. Cut off the excess collar, leaving approximately 2 cm beyond the second loop.

7. Check the fit regularly, especially with growing puppies, and adjust it as necessary.

How does it work?

Unlike an oral flea treatment, Seresto works on the outside of the dog. The active ingredients gradually migrate from the collar onto the skin and hair coat.

When fleas come into contact with the treated coat, imidacloprid kills them without requiring them to bite. Flumethrin repels and kills ticks through contact.

How long does it last?

One collar provides up to 8 months of flea and tick protection. The collar continuously releases small amounts of its active ingredients, replenishing the protective layer on the dog’s skin and coat.

Puppies

The Seresto collar is intended for puppies and dogs under 8 kg. The manufacturer advises checking the collar regularly on growing puppies so it does not become too tight.

Bathing and swimming

Seresto is water resistant, so it normally does not need to be removed when your dog is bathed or swims. However, prolonged or repeated exposure to water and excessive shampooing can gradually reduce flea-control duration.

Important precautions

• For dogs only—use the appropriate Seresto dog collar for the dog’s weight.

• The collar should sit against the skin, rather than hanging loosely away from the neck.

• Check the fit regularly, particularly as a puppy grows.

• Do not attach a lead or name tag to the Seresto collar; use a separate collar or harness for this purpose.

• Do not allow the collar to enter waterways. Used collars should be wrapped in paper and disposed of in household rubbish according to local requirements.
