Aqua One Sponge Pad – Blue (15ppi) – 500/700 Aquis (2pk)

Product Description

Maintain clean, healthy aquarium water with the Aqua One Blue Sponge Pad 15ppi, designed as a replacement mechanical filter media for compatible Aqua One Aquis 500 and 700 external canister filters.

This coarse 15ppi filter sponge is designed to capture larger waste particles and suspended debris as aquarium water passes through the filtration system. It helps remove uneaten food, fish waste, plant debris and other visible particles before the water moves through the finer filtration media.

The open-cell sponge structure allows water to flow through the filter media while trapping unwanted debris. Its coarse density helps prevent premature clogging, supporting consistent water circulation and effective mechanical filtration.

Mechanical filtration is an important part of maintaining good aquarium water quality. By collecting solid waste and debris, the Aqua One sponge pad helps keep your filtration system operating efficiently and reduces the amount of particulate waste circulating throughout the aquarium.

The sponge can be rinsed and reused as part of regular aquarium filter maintenance. For best results, rinse gently in removed aquarium water rather than untreated tap water to help preserve beneficial bacteria that may have established within the sponge.

Supplied as a convenient two-pack, these replacement sponge pads provide a practical solution for routine filter maintenance and ongoing aquarium care.

Why Choose 15ppi Sponge?

The 15ppi rating refers to the approximate number of pores per inch of the sponge material. A lower PPI rating generally indicates a coarser sponge with larger openings.

A coarse 15ppi sponge is particularly useful for initial mechanical filtration because it captures larger particles while allowing good water movement through the filter. It can also provide additional surface area for beneficial bacteria.

Cleaning & Maintenance

For best results and continued filtration performance:

• Inspect the sponge regularly for accumulated debris.
• Rinse gently in a bucket of removed aquarium water during routine maintenance.
• Avoid washing with untreated tap water, detergents or household cleaning products.
• Do not allow the sponge to become excessively blocked, as this can restrict water flow.
• Replace the sponge when it becomes damaged, deteriorated or difficult to clean.
• Avoid replacing all established filter media at once to help maintain biological filtration.
