Bravecto® Spot-On for Dogs is a long-lasting topical flea and tick treatment designed for dogs weighing over 20 kg up to 40 kg. One convenient spot-on application provides 6 months of flea protection and 4 months of tick protection, helping make parasite control simple and convenient.

Bravecto Spot-On contains fluralaner, a modern ectoparasiticide that is absorbed following application to the skin. Fleas and ticks are killed after feeding on the treated dog.

Product Specifications

The 20–40 kg size contains 1,000 mg of fluralaner. Each mL contains 280 mg fluralaner.

Active Ingredient

Fluralaner — 1,000 mg per dose

Fluralaner is the active ingredient in Bravecto Spot-On. The product is formulated to deliver a minimum dose of 25 mg fluralaner per kg of body weight.

After topical application, fluralaner is absorbed into the dog’s system. Fleas and ticks are exposed to fluralaner when they feed on the treated dog, resulting in their death.

What Does Bravecto Spot-On Treat?

Bravecto Spot-On provides control against:

• Fleas

• Ear mites (Otodectes cynotis)

• Demodex mites (Demodex spp.)

Protection Duration

Fleas — up to 6 months

One Bravecto Spot-On treatment provides immediate and persistent flea-killing activity for 6 months.

For optimal flea control, the NZ product information recommends administration at 6-month intervals.

Ticks — up to 4 months

One application provides immediate and persistent tick-killing activity for 4 months against the tick species covered by the New Zealand registration.

Important: flea and tick protection do not have the same duration. The product provides 6 months of flea protection but 4 months of tick protection.

Correct Size for Your Dog

The Bravecto Spot-On range is divided into weight bands:

For a dog weighing more than 20 kg and up to 40 kg, use the 1,000 mg / 20–40 kg presentation.

Do not use a dose based only on breed or size description. Weigh the dog and select the appropriate weight band.

How to Apply Bravecto Spot-On

Step 1 — Prepare the product

Remove the Bravecto Spot-On tube from its child-resistant packaging.

The applicator uses a TWIST’N’USE® cap.

Do not remove the cap.

Twist the cap approximately one full turn until the internal seal breaks. The cap remains attached to the tube.

Step 2 — Position the dog

The dog should be standing or lying on its stomach during application.

Make sure the dog’s back is accessible and reasonably horizontal.

Step 3 — Separate the hair

Part the hair so that you can see the dog’s skin.

The product should be applied directly onto the skin rather than simply onto the hair.

Step 4 — Apply the product

For dogs in the 20–40 kg weight range, apply the entire contents of the tube directly to the skin in up to four spots along the back, from approximately the shoulder area toward the base of the tail.

Avoid putting too much product in a single location because it may run or drip off.

Step 5 — Allow the product to dry

Allow the application area to dry naturally.

Avoid rubbing the treated area immediately after application.

Important Application Precautions

• Apply directly to the skin, not just to the fur.

• Do not apply directly to damaged or irritated skin lesions.

• Use the entire contents of the prescribed tube.

• Do not split one tube between multiple dogs.

• Do not use a different weight-band tube simply because it is available.

• Wash hands after application.

• Keep children away from the application area until it has dried.

• Prevent treated dogs from licking the application site immediately after treatment.

Bathing & Swimming

Bravecto Spot-On has specific water-exposure instructions.

The NZ product information indicates that dogs may be bathed or allowed to swim 3 days after treatment.

For best results, follow the product leaflet and your veterinarian’s instructions regarding bathing and swimming after application.

Minimum Age and Weight

Bravecto Spot-On can be used in dogs from 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 2 kg, with the appropriate weight-band product selected.

For the large-dog presentation described here, the dog must fall within the >20–40 kg weight range.

Puppies should be weighed regularly because rapidly growing dogs can move into a different weight category.
