Bravecto® Spot-On for Dogs 40–56 kg is a long-lasting topical flea and tick treatment containing fluralaner. The pink pack is the Very Large weight category for dogs weighing 40 kg up to 56 kg. One spot-on treatment provides up to 6 months of flea protection and 4 months of tick protection.

Active ingredient

Fluralaner

Fluralaner is a systemic insecticide and acaricide. Following application to the skin, it is absorbed into the dog’s bloodstream and tissue fluids. Fleas and ticks are killed when they feed on the treated dog and ingest fluralaner.

The dosage is calculated according to body weight, with the Bravecto Spot-On formulation delivering approximately 25–56 mg of fluralaner per kg of body weight.

What does Bravecto Spot-On treat?

Bravecto Spot-On provides control of:

• Fleas – immediate and persistent flea-killing activity for 6 months.

• Cattle ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis) – persistent tick-killing activity for 4 months.

• Ear mites (Otodectes cynotis)

• Demodex mites (Demodex spp.)

• Sarcoptic mange mites (Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis)

• Helps as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

• Effective against fipronil-resistant fleas.

• Effective flea control indirectly reduces the risk of flea tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum) infection.

How to apply

For a dog weighing 40–56 kg, use one complete Very Large/Pink spot-on tube.

1. Remove the tube from its child-safe packaging.

2. Hold the tube upright.

3. Twist the cap one full turn to break the internal seal. The cap is not designed to be removed.

4. Ensure the dog’s back is horizontal.

5. Part the hair until the skin is clearly visible.

6. Apply the product directly onto the skin, not merely onto the coat.

7. For large and very large dogs, apply the contents to four spots along the dog’s back.

8. Allow the application areas to dry.

Treatment schedule

For ongoing flea protection, administer Bravecto Spot-On every 6 months.

For tick protection, the NZ product information specifies 4 months of protection, so a separate tick-treatment schedule may be required if continuous tick protection is needed.

Bathing and swimming

Avoid washing the dog or allowing it to swim or become immersed in water for 3 days after treatment. This gives the spot-on time to distribute and absorb appropriately. After application, avoid touching the application area until it is dry.

Puppies and breeding dogs

Bravecto Spot-On may be used in puppies from 8 weeks of age weighing at least 2 kg. The NZ manufacturer also states that it can be used in breeding, pregnant and lactating dogs and is suitable for MDR1 breeds.

Important precautions

• For dogs only.

• Use the 40–56 kg formulation for dogs within this weight range.

• Do not divide the contents of the tube between animals.

• Apply directly to the skin.

• Do not allow children or other pets to touch the application site until dry.

• Do not allow the dog to swim or be immersed in water for 3 days after application.

• If your dog weighs more than 56 kg, the manufacturer recommends using a combination of tubes that most closely matches the dog’s body weight.

• Discuss use with your veterinarian if your dog is receiving other medications or has an underlying medical condition.
